Vocabulary included: Poll Taxes, Literacy Tests, Grandfather Clause, the 24th Amendment, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965

Sample question: Why were literacy tests considered a violation of the 14th Amendment? 

✯ 6 cards on women’s suffrage and the 19th Amendment. Students define suffrage, name a famous suffragette and review key facts related to the 19th Amendment.

Vocabulary included: Suffrage, 19th Amendment

Sample Question: Suffragette Susan B. Anthony was arrested in 1872 for trying to perform what act of citizenship?

✯ 3 cards on the 26th Amendment. Students review the impact of the 26th Amendment on the national voting age.

Sample question: Which Constitutional Amendment, ratified in 1971, lowered the national voting age?

✯ 5 cards analyzing quotes and historical images. Finally, students will connect historical images and a primary source quotation from Sojourner Truth to each of the Voting Rights Amendments! This is a great exercise in making critical thinking and making connections!

They should touch on many of the key concepts, important historical figures, and crucial vocabulary in your Voting Rights Amendments curriculum!

These print-and-go cards can be used as unit review, test prep for your Civics End of Course Exam, or extra enrichment for students in need of a little extra review. Have students work through the cards independently, or host a class-wide gallery walk or game of Scoot!
